My Philosophy When it Comes to Personal Styling
Every stylist has a process, mine begins with a philosophy.
I believe personal style isn't something you're born with, nor is it something you stumble across after buying the right blazer or following the latest trend. It's only something you can develop through understanding yourself first.
Over the years, I've noticed that many women don't struggle because they lack beautiful clothes. They struggle because no one has ever taught them why certain pieces work, how to recognise what truly suits them or how to build a wardrobe that reflects who they are.
Instead, we're given endless formulas: the capsule wardrobe that supposedly works for every woman, body typing based on fruit (you’re so much more than that), wardrobe essentials for every woman, a limited colour season without understanding colour theory. And the list goes on.
Some of these ideas have value, at least at their core. I use several evidence-based styling frameworks in my own work. But none of them, in isolation, can define a woman's style.
Because you are far more complex than a checklist.
Style begins with understanding
When I work with a client, I don't begin by asking what clothes she likes. I begin by asking about her.
How does she spend her time?
How does she want to feel when she gets dressed?
What impression does she want to leave before she says a single word?
What naturally feels like her?
Only then do we begin translating those answers into clothing.
This process is what transforms styling from simply choosing outfits into understanding authentic personal style. And it’s a framework that can be used time and again.
More than a personal stylist
People often assume a personal stylist's role is to tell clients what to wear. I've never believed that's enough.
My goal isn't to give my clients a one off fun experience. It's to create confidence in knowing who you are and how to translate that into your outfits.
Rather than simply curating outfits, I teach my clients the principles behind every recommendation. We explore how personality, lifestyle, colour, proportion and the finer details work together to create a wardrobe that feels authentic rather than prescribed.
I want every client to leave not only with beautifully curated outfits, but with the confidence to continue making thoughtful decisions long after our consultations have finished.
Because the greatest compliment I can receive isn't that someone loved the wardrobe we created together.
It's hearing that years later, they're still shopping with clarity because they finally understand why something belongs in their wardrobe. This is what I live for.
A framework for life
Life changes. Careers evolve. Bodies change. Our priorities shift. And fashion will continue reinventing itself season after season. That's why I built my consultations around understanding rather than trends.
Instead of offering quick fixes, I help my clients develop a framework they can return to throughout every stage of life, that will always work for you. Because once you understand the principles behind your own personal style, you no longer need someone else to tell you what to wear. You simply know.
That, to me, is the true purpose of personal styling.
Not creating a beautiful wardrobe for today.
Creating the understanding to build one for a lifetime.
